The Immunisation Program aims to lift immunisation rates in the Division and improve the efficacy of immunisation services by providing strategies to GPs and practice staff to improve the awareness and acceptance of timely immunisation in the community.

Services

Education
Education for both GPs and practice staff covering topics such as recall / reminder systems for immunisation, data cleaning, cold chain management of vaccines and ACIR reporting are provided by means of phone call advice, email, practice visits and workshops.

Practice visits
Rosemary is available to visit practices and explain the General Practice Immunisation Incentive (GPII) scheme, the Australian Childhood Immunisation Register (ACIR) and how to use the secure internet site. Vaccine fridge assessments and cold chain audits can also be arranged through the Division.

Healthy Kids Check (709 / 711)

The Healthy Kids Check was released on 1 July 2008. MBS Items 709 and 711 will support medical practitioners and practice nurses to undertake Healthy Kids Checks to ensure every four year old child in Australia has a basic health check to see if they are healthy, fit and ready to learn when they start school. The Healthy Kids Check will promote early detection of lifestyle risk factors, delayed development and illness, and introduce guidance for healthy lifestyles and early intervention strategies.
